What is PMMA?

Polymethyl methacrylate is a thermoplasticpolymer.

PMMA is widely used for its strong mix of properties, including exceptional optical clarity, surface hardness, weatherablity and dimensional stability.

What’s in a name?

PMMA has beensold under a variety of brand names and generic names.

It is often generically called acrylic glass. Trade names include: Akrylon®, Altuglas®, Lucite®, Perspex®, Plazcryl®, Plexiglas®, Oroglas®, Polycasa Acryl®, Diakon® , Acrypet® and Polycasa XT®.
