PMMA / Acrylic Sustainable Solutions
Cast Acrylic Sheets
Cast acrylic sheet is a product of rare quality, unique abilities and outstanding performance.
Cast acrylic sheet (PMMA) is produced directly from monomer by two methods: cell cast and continuous cast.
Cell cast
MMA syrup is cast between two sheets of high quality glass and is polymerised in batches in specially developed ovens and water baths.
Continuous cast
A continuous process where syrup is polymerised between two highly polished stainless steel bands.
Originally produced to be crystal clear with excellent optical clarity of 92% light transmission
Cast sheet can be found in applications such as aircraft windscreens and museum casings. The cast acrylic sheet has evolved and now comes in a wide variety of translucent, tinted and opaque colours, from vivid primaries to subtle natural shades.
Cast acrylic sheet also offers a wide range of surface effects such as gloss, anti-reflective and matt surfaces, as well as other textures.
Cast acrylic sheet has a very high molecular weight, making it more rigid, craze resistant and easy to handle, cut and cement. It is easy to shape, fabricate and form. Cast acrylic sheet is also used due to its optical clarity of clear sheet, colour palette, inspiring surface effects, durability in demanding environments and for the creative potential it offers that is beyond traditional materials such as wood, steel, glass or ceramics.
